Erin Sodawasser-Hermiston

Erin Sodawasser-Hermiston is the Clinical Instructor for the Applied Practicum Experience in the Master of Public Health Program. She has experience in public health practice primarily globally and also in the USA. She completed her MPH at the University of Minnesota with a focus in Maternal Child Health.

Highlights of Erin's work experience include community health education as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Mozambique where she started a USAID-funded capacity strengthening literacy program; coordinated a PEPFAR-funded provincial/national science fair; and led PEPFAR-funded JUNTOS and REDES youth/community education groups of future teachers. In the Dominican Republic, Erin worked with Batey Relief Alliance's (BRA) Women's Empowerment Initiative to build capacity, evaluate best practices, and identify program improvements.

Within the MPH program, Erin teaches MPH 695 Applied Practicum Experience. She helps students identify practicum experiences and opportunities that fall within their unique interests. She also uses her interpersonal skills to build partnerships in the greater Quad Cities community for future student practicum opportunities. Erin integrates her knowledge of the PH competencies to ensure that each MPH student has the best applied experience to enter the work force knowledgeable and ready to make a difference wherever they are.
