Taste of Ambrose Changes

09/18/2017

Through partnerships across campus, the Alumni Office excitedly announces enhancements to this year's Taste of Ambrose.

"We're providing so many great additions to this year's Taste of Ambrose," said Anne Gannaway, Director of Alumni Engagement. "We are offering many family activities including bounce houses, face painting, caricature drawings, and even a live DJ – all of which are free! There will be a new Beer and Wine Garden this year for our Alumni to enjoy. Make sure to stop by the Alumni headquarters to take a chance at the giveaway game and grab a group picture in the SAU Homecoming photo frame!"

This year's event is Saturday, Sept. 30 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the lawn outside the Rogalski Center. Gannaway said the Alumni Office hopes to bring more alumni and their families to the Taste by offering something for everyone.

"In 2015, the Taste of Ambrose was moved from Brady Street Stadium to campus to accommodate a rescheduled high school football game," Gannaway said. "That move turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Gathering alumni on campus prior to the game allows us to create an entire morning of activities, starting with the Killer Bee 5K, then campus tours, the Archives Open House, and Taste of Ambrose."

The party then moves to Brady Street Stadium to cheer on the Fighting Bees. All fans are encouraged to arrive at the stadium by 12:40 to see the new pre-game show designed and performed by the athletic band and cheer and dance teams.

Gannaway said her office hopes this is only the beginning of the enhancements. Her staff researched what other schools offered for their "tailgate" experience and chose some ideas to implement this year. Based on feedback, the group plans to grow the program in upcoming years.
