St. Ambrose University will host the 2019 Quad Cities Cybersecurity Conference and Kids Hacker Camp, an annual event held each fall to increase the knowledge, skills, and connections between business leaders, IT professionals and students of all ages.
The conference is scheduled Sept. 5-7 in the Rogalski Center and will feature professional workshops and presentations led by information security executives, as well as a vendor expo and hacker village. This year's theme is CornCon Five-0: Law Enforcement in the Cyber Age.
The conference kicks off Sept. 5 with an invitation-only session to introduce high school students to the field of cybersecurity.
On Sept. 6, business leaders and IT professionals can attend professional development workshops led by information security executives. Cost is $100 and attendees can earn 7 CPE credits.
On Sept. 7, attendees can attend technical track workshops and earn 7 CPE credits. In addition, there will be speakers, hands-on workshops, a vendor expo, and hacker village. Cost for the Saturday conference is $50. Or, adults can attend both days of the conference for $135.
Also, on Saturday, children ages 7-17 can learn about the field of cybersecurity at the hacker camp, known as The Children of The CornCon. There will be STEM activities including lockpicking, coding, and electronics. Cost is $25 per child, and a parent or guardian must accompany their child throughout the event.
CornCon was launched in 2015 by the Quad Cities Cybersecurity Alliance, in a partnership with the IEEE Computer Society and SAU.
