Alum Update: Seth Kaltwasser

03/09/2011

Seth Kaltwasser '09, has been very busy since he graduated from St. Ambrose University.

He has been pursuing theatre up in the Twin Cities, last year touring with the CLIMB Theatre, and this past fall, working for Festival Theatre in Wisconsin, where he performed in three productions: Is He Dead?, Nickel and Dimed, and A Christmas Carol. He returned to the Quad Cities last summer to act alongside Dr. Cory Johnson in the Curtainbox Theatre's production of W;t. This spring he will be a production intern for the Jungle Theatre in Minneapolis.

When asked what he learned at SAU, Kaltwasser said, "Everything. Truly, I'm not exaggerating. I learned what it means to be a professional, and I gained the confidence needed to dive headlong into the unknown. I also learned some basic auctioneering techniques and how to mow the lawn and walk in heels. The list goes on."

The "scary question" of where he wants his career to progress led Kaltwasser to explain that he's already doing what he loves to do. "Right now, I'm living in a city I love and getting paid to act, so, I'm happy. Whatever comes next is only icing on the cake."

Did he ever imagine he'd be where he is today? "Absolutely not," says Kaltwasser. "I always assumed I'd head straight to grad school or teaching or something completely different," he said. "Studying under Cory Johnson, Mike Kennedy, Kris Eitrheim, and Shellee Frazee prepared me in ways I never could have imagined. Hitting the professional scene was simply a natural step."

Congrats on all your success Seth! We are so proud of you here at the SAU Theatre Department!
