DPT Update :Summer 2011

07/21/2011

In comparison to the last two summers, this has been a pretty uneventful couple of months.

In 2010 we were sorting, cleaning, packing, and then unpacking as we made our move from Hayes Hall to the Center for Health Sciences Education. In 2009 we were busy working on our self study report for the Commission of Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. So now in the summer of 2011, it feels like things have been brought down a notch.

We have used this time to revise courses, guide transition doctor of physical therapy students through their integration projects, work on our own research projects, write papers, attend conferences, see patients in the clinic, and take a little personal time away from St. Ambrose University. Before we know it, we will be in the thick of things again.

In a matter of four weeks, the second year students will be returning, and three weeks later we will be welcoming 36 new students to the physical therapy family at St. Ambrose University.

In this edition of our newsletter you will read about a variety of topics from student scholarship winners, research activity in the department, and our new curriculum. You will also read that after a national search, Dr. Michael Puthoff has been appointed as Director of Physical Therapy Department.
