Dr. L. Joseph Hebert travelled to Rome for a three-day conference held by the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace - "Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Pacem in Terris" - and presented his paper, "Wings as Swift as Love: Hamlet and the Virtues (and Vices) of a King," at the 2013 Society of Catholic Social Scientists National Conference. Dr. Hebert also accepted the position of chief editor of The Catholic Social Science Review.

Dr. Duk Kim delivered a paper, "Causes of Peace: The Preconditions Associated with Successful International Peacebuilding in the Aftermath of Civil Wars" at the Iowa Association of Political Scientists annual conference hosted by Central College, Pella Iowa, March 1.

In 2013-14, Dr. William W. Parsons served as the President of the Iowa Association of Political Scientists. In March 2013, the annual Iowa conference was hosted by St. Ambrose University. In 2014, the conference was held at Central College, in Pella, Iowa. Dr. Parsons is completing his 25th year as a member of the St. Ambrose University faculty.
