Monica Forret, PhD, named first DBA Doctoral Fellow

Dr. Monica Forret has been named the first Doctoral Alumni Research Fellow, associated with the Doctor of Business Administration program in the College of Business.

The fellowship is made possible through the generosity of an anonymous donor who provided funds to initiate the fellowship. The fellowship also provides financial support for the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program. In addition to the initial funding of the fellowship, solicitation of funds continues through the end of this year with a final goal of $150,000 to be paid out over ten years. Congratulations to Dr. Forret and the DBA program.

Dr. Forret, an alumna of St. Ambrose University, has been on the faculty of the College of Business since 1997. She has served as Director of the DBA program for many of her years of service at St. Ambrose. Dr. Forret conducts research primarily in the areas of networking, mentoring, careers, job search processes, gender issues, and work attitudes. Dr. Forret has published in many prominent journals in the field of management such as the Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Vocational Behavior, and Career Development International. She has presented numerous papers at academic conferences such as the Academy of Management and Southern Management Association, and has served two terms on the Board of Directors for the Careers Division of the Academy of Management.

Prior to pursuing doctoral studies, Dr. Forret was a CPA and worked as an auditor for Deloitte and Touche and for The Prudential Insurance Company of America. Dr. Forret earned her Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Missouri with an emphasis in the areas of organizational behavior and human resource management. Before coming to St. Ambrose, Dr. Forret was on the faculty at Long Island University - C. W. Post. She has also taught courses and conducted research workshops at universities in Germany, Switzerland, and India.

The Doctor of Business Administration program, launched in 1998 for working professionals, is the first doctoral program at St. Ambrose University. Graduates of the DBA program come from a range of professions such as banking, education, engineering, marketing, manufacturing, government contracting, and IT consulting. The goal of the program is to equip students to frame current management challenges and develop professional insights for application in view of the best management scholarship. The program focuses on leading organizations strategically, designing organizations for effectiveness, analyzing behavior in organizations, and managing human resources in a global environment.
