Majors: Theatre and History
Favorite role: My favorite role that I've played has got to be the most recent: Hedda Gabler. My favorite show I've stage managed was Spamalot. There were a lot of challenges, but it was such a fun show and my dad was the light designer.
Dream role: Hedda was my dream role. I've played it. Thanks Cory! I also really want to play Desdemona in Othello. For stage managing, I would love to continue doing musicals. Pippin and Shrek are at the top of my list.
What drove me to SAU: Meeting the faculty; Dan, Kris and Cory were the people that got me here. Talking with them at my audition was when I knew I wanted to work with them for my next four years and beyond.
Favorite memory: There are so many and I'm not sure if I can choose just one. The first one that jumps out was the final day of this past ACTF when I got to perform in the Irene Ryan finals with Jordan McGinnis and then I won the stage managing fellowship and a trip to D.C. Then there were so many great memories right after that hugging Cory, Kris, my roommate Becca and all my other friends.
Every show has so many great memories but recently, after my last performance of Hedda, I went out to the lobby to four of my favorite people: my parents, my sister, and my boyfriend Jon. I gave each of them a hug and I could tell my mom had been crying with pride. My dad gave me the longest hug he'd given me in awhile telling me how proud he was. All the hard work was beyond worth it after that memory.
Future plans: I am planning on becoming a professional stage manager at a large equity theater. The plan right now is move back to Chicago and work there, but I would be open to many places across the country! Things totally might change after my D.C. trip so I'm keeping my options open!
Advice: Work as hard as you can and learn everything you can. You will get what you want out of this theatre department if you go for it. Also, your fellow students and teachers are the people that can get you work for the rest of your life, so don't burn any bridges.
