Theatre Newsletter | December 2021

It is always exciting to introduce new people to St. Ambrose University's Theatre Department. Megan Rohn, a first-year Social Work major, is one of those fresh faces and we are thrilled at the fact that she has decided to bless us with her talents.

Rohn has moved all over the place throughout her life, but Galesburg, Illinois is the town she currently calls home. She made the decision to come to St Ambrose University because it allows her to be close to her family, she was offered abundant scholarship opportunities, and she felt like the admissions team was very attentive.

"I really liked how personal they were throughout the entire application process and decision process," explained Rohn. "They were constantly emailing, calling, texting and making sure I had time with all my options."

Rohn has intentions to find a career in social work where she deals with the welfare of children. She expressed that she has always had an affinity for caring for kids, and would love to make it her profession when she has graduated.

Majoring in Social Work, Megan most recently appeared in "She Kills Monsters."

The theatre has been in Rohn's life since her childhood, when she and her mother would frequently listen to musical soundtracks for fun. Then during her freshman year of high school, she auditioned for her school's fall production just because she wanted to see if theatre was something she was interested in. Because of this experience, she discovered her love for the acting side of theatre. She has continued acting in college and just recently she had a role in She Kills Monsters as Farrah the Faerie. When asked about her favorite theatre experience throughout the years, she had an almost immediate answer.

"My junior year of high school we did a show called 12 Angry Jurors," she explained with enthusiasm. "The cast was just amazing and we just had so much fun with it. It was such a serious show but I really enjoyed the whole experience."

Outside of her studies and performing, Rohn is a member of the choir, Campus Activities Board, and she is an admissions ambassador for St. Ambrose. She also enjoys reading and spends a lot of her time immersed in a good book.

Rohn is only just beginning in her journey here at St. Ambrose, and we are all excited to see her shine in future productions. We wish her the best of luck, and the happiest of holidays to all of our readers!
