Building Your Hive
August 11-14, 2024

Building Your Hive is an extended, in-depth introduction on what to expect during the first few weeks of college. During the three-day event, staff and faculty will be on-hand to help new Ambrosians learn skills essential for college success such as time management, how to study, being proactive, asking for help, accepting help, and self-advocacy. This event is for first-year students who are minority and/or first-generation* and plan to enroll at St. Ambrose University in the fall 2024 term.

Benefits of attending Building Your Hive:

• Early student move-in (3 days earlier than all-student move-in day!)
• Be paired with a Peer Mentor who will guide you throughout the academic year 
• Participate in workshops on topics such as academic success and career development 

*a first-generation student is defined as, a student with neither parent or guardian has earned a four-year degree.
