Hello Bees!!
My name is Luke Peterson, and it is with great enthusiasm that I can announce I am the new Editor of the Theatre Department Newsletter.
I am currently in my senior year of study at St. Ambrose University, where I am a double major in Theatre and Sociology. When not in class or rehearsal, you can find me working in Dr. Corinne Johnson's office as her work-study student, singing in SAU's University Chorale and Chamber Choir, or binge watching hit shows on Netflix such as Jane the Virgin and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
Additionally, along with my great friends Ellie Larson and Allison Hutson, I help run and organize events for the Theatre Appreciation Club, as the club's director. It has been great to bring new offerings to our Theatre Department such as the Miscast Cabaret and the 24 Hour Play Festival, and I look forward to working with the new first-year class on the Fresh Face Revue each year.
While at St. Ambrose, I have attempted to try my hand at a variety of theatrical interests to make me a more well-rounded artist. On stage, people may remember me from playing roles such as Ernie in Rumors, Damis in Tartuffe, and the Conceited Man in The Little Prince. Off stage, people may have seen my work as the stage manager for Rabbit Hole, the props designer for Cabaret, and the director/sound designer of last season's Time Stands Still.
Luke Peterson
Editor of the 2020-21 Theatre Newsletter
In whatever project I take on, I always try my best to adhere to my own personal aphorism of "Positivity, Politeness, and Preparedness Promote Productivity." And I can guarantee that I will uphold these key principles as I work on the Theatre Newsletter throughout the school year.
I believe that the Theatre Newsletter is an excellent tool to document our department's history, and I am honored to serve as the editor during this unusual school year. The Newsletter has a wonderful 20-year legacy behind it, and no global pandemic is going to get in the way of that. This year, I look forward to producing quality articles that can be enjoyed not only by students, but by faculty members, alumni, and people in the community all the same.
All in all, I welcome readers near and far to this first edition of the 2020-2021 Theatre Newsletter. Let's have a great year!
