Community Reception Honors the Rogalskis

06/01/2007

An informal community reception honoring retiring President Ed and Mrs. Bobbi Rogalski will be held "under the oaks" on the front lawn of the St. Ambrose University campus on Saturday, June 16, from 2 - 4 p.m. The Quad Cities community is invited to attend and refreshments will be served. The reception will be held in the Cosgrove Hall Cafeteria.

"Ed and Bobbi Rogalski's lives reflect a dedication to St. Ambrose and the entire Quad Cities community," says the Most Rev. Martin Amos, bishop of the Diocese of Davenport and president of SAU's board of directors. "The Rogalskis have truly lived the St. Ambrose mission of ‘enriching lives' through 40 years of service and leadership."

Rogalski, currently the longest-serving president among Iowa's institutions of higher education, will retire from St. Ambrose this summer after a career at the university spanning nearly 40 years, the last 20 as its president. Under his leadership, St. Ambrose University flourished and grew, developing a regional reputation for academic excellence. The physical campus underwent more than $67 million in new construction with nine buildings added since 1990, the most recent capital project being the $5.2 million renovation to the university's spiritual center, Christ the King Chapel.

St. Ambrose has also experienced a 70 percent increase in enrollment, endowment growth of 650 percent, and the addition of almost 40 academic programs, including the introduction of the university's first doctoral program, the doctor of business administration. The university has enjoyed remarkable financial stability, with 20 years of balanced budgets. Most notably, Rogalski has overseen one of the largest capital campaigns in the university's history, with nearly $50 million raised since 1999.

Bobbi Rogalski, a staunch advocate for the arts, serves on statewide and local arts boards, including St. Ambrose's own Galvin Fine Arts Center Program and Catich Art on Campus committees, among others. She is the director of the St. Ambrose University Bishop's House Inn.

A scholarship has been endowed in the Rogalskis' honor. The Ed and Bobbi Rogalski Presidential Scholars Program will benefit students who exhibit the highest academic profile and financial need.
