Museum Enthusiasts Club

The Museum Enthusiasts Club, formerly Art History Club, is open to all SAU students interested in art history and/or museums, regardless of major or minor. If you enjoy learning about art history in a casual, stress-free (and definitely NOT pretentious) environment, we welcome you to join. We're a fun group, and welcome anyone with a love of art history and museums!

We organize activities like trips to museums and cultural institutions, social outings, dinner parties, movie nights, and provides support for AH/MUSE professional development through workshops co-sponsored with the Art History and Museum Studies Program. The Museum Enthusiasts Club also helps organize the SAU Art History and Museum Studies Program annual SAU night at the Figge event each fall, together with a silent art auction to support the club's museum outings. All students are welcome to the club, regardless of field of study.

The club plans an annual road trip to a major musem outside the QC area. Last year, MEC hosted a busload of 55 students on a trip to the St. Louis Art Museum and City Museum of St. Louis. We've also hosted art themed events, like the "Loving Vincent" film viewing, with the "Pin the Ear on Vincent" game. Club members have also take field trips to the Figge Art Museum, the Family Museum, and other area museums. We also host a potluck each semester, plus educational workshops on career fields and opportunities of interest to a wide range of students in the group.
