Music Scholarship details
Music Scholarships are given to First-Year and Transfer students of any major who participate in music ensembles at St. Ambrose. 99% of students who audition for a Music Scholarship will receive aid in some amount.
Student eligibility and selection criteria:
- First-Year or Transfer student accepted into St. Ambrose University
- Audition will be required (in person or video submission)
- Willingness to join music ensemble and take applied music lessons
- Scholarship is renewable each year
Multiple students receive Music Scholarships each year. Music department faculty review applications, conduct auditions, and choose recipients prior to the start of each academic year.
Music Scholarships are disbursed following a straightforward process:
- The Music Department shares a list of recipients with Financial Services.
- Disbursement occurs at the beginning of each year.
- Funds are directly credited to your account and applied toward tuition.

To uphold the Music Scholarship, recipients must adhere to these standards:
- Remain in good academic standing at university
- Maintain participation in ensemble of your discipline, i.e. choir or band
- Take four semesters of applied lessons in their instrument
These standards ensure that Music scholars stay on the path to educational success and continued scholarship support.
How to apply for a Music Scholarship
Applying for a scholarship is easy. Follow these steps.
Apply to SAU
To qualify for a Music Scholarship, you need to apply to SAU as a First-Year or Transfer student. Complete the application and enroll at SAU.
Apply for a Music Scholarship
Submit your application to audition for a Music Scholarship. A representative from the Music Department will contact you to schedule an audition.
Arrange your audition
Work with Music Department faculty to schedule an audition during a campus visit, or arrange to submit an audition video via YouTube.
