The Foreign Language Scholarship for Spanish Majors and Minors offers financial assistance to students studying Spanish at St. Ambrose, who are required to study abroad during their degree program.
Student eligibility and enrollment requirements:
- Enrollment in an undergraduate Spanish program at SAU (major or minor)
- Registration for a study abroad experience via St. Ambrose University
Multiple students have the opportunity to receive the Foreign Language Scholarship for Spanish Majors and Minors, provided they are majoring or minoring in Spanish and registered for a study abroad experience. The chair of SAU’s Spanish Department reviews applications and selects recipients for the scholarship funds.
The Foreign Language Scholarship for Spanish Majors and Minors is disbursed following a straightforward process:
- The Spanish Department Chair shares a list of recipients with Financial Aid
- Funds are directly credited to your account and applied toward tuition

How to apply for the Foreign Language Scholarship
Applying for a scholarship is easy. Follow these steps.
Choose a study abroad experience
After declaring your major or minor in Spanish, choose a Spanish course abroad taught by SAU language faculty.
Plan your application
Applications are due twice a year: November 15th for Winterim or Spring semester, and May 1st for May term, Summer term, or Fall semester.
Submit your application
Submit your application by November 15th or May 1st to be considered for the Foreign Language Scholarship for Spanish Majors and Minors.
