Parking information for students and visitors

St. Ambrose offers a variety of parking and transportation options for students. From recommended bus routes, bike, and permit options

General parking information

At St. Ambrose University, our zone parking system empowers students to choose permits suiting their needs & budgets. Permit sales align with class years, and vehicle registration is mandatory.

  • Limited parking available in designated lots, first-come, first-served basis.
  • No parking on hashed lines, yellow curbs, sidewalks, or grass/dirt.
  • Avoid parking in surrounding neighborhoods without permission or residence.
  • Lots patrolled regularly; university not liable for loss or damage.
  • Report any suspicious activity to the Security Office.
  • Use hazard lights for loading/unloading, limited to 30 minutes  in designated zones.

Parking permit options

Zone 1 Parking

Permit required 24/7 in Zone 1.

 Cost: $130/year; $65/semester

Who can park here: Students only with a Zone 1 permit.

Location: Adjacent to most academic and residential buildings in the areas bounded by Locust, Gaines, Lombard, and Harrison Streets respectively. 

Students living in university-owned houses who park behind/adjacent to the house must display a current Zone 1 or 2 parking permit. Students with a Zone 1 parking permit may purchase a CHSE parking permit for an additional $85.00 per semester.

Zone 2 Parking

Permit required in Zone 2 Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m.

Cost: $70/year; $35/semester

Who can park here: Anyone with a Zone 2 permit

Location: West of Gaines Street and between McCarthy Hall and the Wellness and Recreation Center. See Campus Map for Parking Zones

Students living in university-owned houses who park behind/adjacent to the house must display a current Zone 1 or 2 parking permit.

Zone 3 Parking

Permit required Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m.

Cost: Free - off campus (4 blocks north)

Who can park here: Students only

Parking in this lot works best for students using their vehicles occasionally, not daily.

Location: On the St. Vincent Athletics Complex, about four blocks north of campus. On-demand transportation to and from Zone 3 is free via Campus Security.

CHSE Permit

Permit required in CHSE and Zone 2 Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m.

Cost: $85.00 per semester

Parking: This permit allows you to park in a designated CHSE student lot and Zone 2 lots.

Location: Parking spaces are available at the Center of Health Science Education (CHSE). Students with a Zone 1 parking permit may purchase a CHSE parking permit for an additional $85.00 per semester.

Kia/Hyundai

Free bus pass

To avoid parking on campus altogether, ride the bus! Your student ID card is your FREE bus pass on any city bus. Information on times and routes are available on the City of Davenport Citibus Transit website.

Bicycles on campus

Your bike must be registered with the city in accordance with all rules and regulations. Bicycles do not have to be registered with Security. When parking your bicycle, don't hinder the flow of pedestrian traffic within a parking lot or sidewalk. Do not lock or park bicycles at utility poles, trees, bollards, railings, signposts, or fences. Bicycles may not be stored in building hallways. The university assumes no liability for any lost, stolen, or damaged bicycle locked to a campus bike rack.

Essential details for SAU parking: Visitor parking locations, towing policies, disabled parking guidelines, and citation enforcement. Ensure you comply with university parking regulations to avoid penalties.

Visitor parking

Visitor parking is available in the lots east of Cosgrove Hall and designated spaces at the Rogalski Center. If these areas are full or you are planning an extended visit, contact the Security Office.

Temporary permits are available in the SAU Security Office, Rogalski Center, 2nd floor

Current students, faculty, and staff may not park in Visitor Lots, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m. – no exceptions.
