Deneen Woerdehoff

Disability Service Provider

Deneen is one of two disability service providers (DSP) in the ARC. As a disability service provider, Deneen works with students who request academic accommodations such as a note taker, recorded lectures, exam accommodations, and even advocacy and “pre-advising”. Deneen works closely with faculty and staff to ensure that accommodations are being provided and to help faculty and students navigate accessibility in the classroom.

How long have you been at Ambrose and why do you stay?
I have been with St. Ambrose since 2020 after teaching students with disabilities and/or diagnoses in a private school. I stay at St. Ambrose, not because it is my alma mater, but because I have a strong passion for education. It does not matter what age a person is, they are always learning and sometimes need extra tools to be successful.

Why do you do this job?
I enjoy working and supporting students with disabilities. I want every student to have the opportunity to obtain a higher education regardless of a disability or diagnosis.

Which three words describe you best?
Supportive, Listener, Problem solver
