Parking Permits


To buy a permit, you need the following: an active email address; your student ID; vehicle make, model and color information; and license plate information. It is the owner's responsibility to ensure that all vehicle information is current and accurate. 

Permits are sold online at sau.thepermitstore.comSpring 2024 permits will be available to purchase starting January 9, 2024, after 10:00 AM. 

  • Zone 1 Parking - $65.00
  • Zone 2 Parking - $35.00
  • Zone 3 Parking - No Cost
  • McCarthy Building Lot (reserved for owners of Kia and Hyundai vehicles) - $35.00
  • Center for Health Science & Education - $85.00

Ambrose students who do not typically use their cars daily are encouraged to order a Zone 3 permit at no cost. The Zone 3 lot is located at the university's "St. Vincent's Center" property north of Central Park Avenue near the Gaines Street intersection (about four blocks north of campus).

A shuttle service to and from the Zone 3 lot will be provided free of charge via the SAU Campus Security between the hours of 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM. During the overnight hours (11:00 PM to 6:00 AM), transportation will only be provided back to campus from the lot.  

Students parking on campus must select the permit appropriate for their needs.

Please Note


  • Students living in university-owned houses who park behind/adjacent to the house must display a current Zone 1 or 2 parking permit.
  • Students with a Zone 1 or 2 parking permit may purchase a CHSE parking permit for an additional $85 per semester.
  • No parking at any time on Rogalski Dr., Pleasant St., or Ripley St. (adjacent to the Cosgrove lot).

Parking Zones and Permit Costs

Zone 1 – Students Only

Cost: $130/year; $65/semester

Who can park here: Students only with a Zone 1 permit.

Location: Adjacent to most academic and residential buildings in the areas bounded by Locust, Gaines, Lombard, and Harrison Streets respectively. See Campus Map for Parking Zones

Students living in university-owned houses who park behind/adjacent to the house must display a current Zone 1 or 2 parking permit.

Permit required 24/7 in Zone 1.

Zone 2

Cost: $70/year; $35/semester

Who can park here: Anyone with a Zone 2 permit

Location: West of Gaines Street and between McCarthy Hall and the Wellness and Recreation Center. See Campus Map for Parking Zones

Students living in university-owned houses who park behind/adjacent to the house must display a current Zone 1 or 2 parking permit.

Permit required in Zone 2 Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m.

Zone 3

Cost: Free

Who can park here: Students only

Parking in this lot works best for students using their vehicles occasionally, not daily.

Location: On the St. Vincent Athletics Complex, about four blocks north of campus. On-demand transportation to and from Zone 3 is free via Campus Security.

Permit required Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m.

Center for Communication and Social Development (CCSD)

Cost: Free. CCSD provides these permits.

Who can park here: CCSD students only

Location: Corner of Marquette and Locust streets.

Permit required Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m.

Employees

Cost: Free

Location: Rogalski Center, portions south of Galvin Fine Arts Center, and Zone 2.

Portions of Roglaski and Galvin are available only to faculty and staff from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Permit required Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m.
